Whether you’re walking with friends, family, coworkers, or your church, teams make fundraising more powerful, more fun, and more meaningful.

Team Captain Guide

The Walk with Jesus is more than an individual journey, it’s a shared mission. By joining or creating a team, you multiply your impact and help bring hope to individuals experiencing homelessness through Salty Farm Ministries.

Why should you create a team?

How to create a team...
You've taken the leap to be a Walk Ambassador!! THANK YOU!! But now what??

create your team name.

Will your team be the name of your church/organization? Or will your team name be creative like the Salt + Light Walker, Sand & Savior Squad, or the Shoreline Servants?

Recruit Walkers.

Aim for 5-15 members to start off! However, there is no limit as to how large or small a team can be. Personally reach out (text, call, or in person works best)! Share a little about WHY this walk is important to YOU!

Get walkers to register.

Direct walkers to the website to "Register as a Walker" and make sure they know the TEAM NAME to include in their registration! Once they register, they will receive an email to set up their individual fundraising page.

Set a team goal.

The overall goal for the walk is $150,000. What does your team want to contribute? Remember, there are TEAM AWARDS and a TRAVELING TROPHY (+bragging rights for the next year)!

Raise $2500: Church/Corporate logo displayed on a banner at registration table

Raise $5000: Pizza Party for 15 people (details provided during awards ceremony)

Raise $10,000: Beach Bonfire Celebration for your team at a date TBD by you and bonfire provider.

How to lead a team...

You've created and grown your team!! But now what??

lead by example.

Make your own donation first. Start fundraising early. Share you personal "why". Your team will follow!

equip your team.

Share fundraising tips, provide sample messages/posts, remind them to send personal asks (not just posts).

keep them engaged.

Send weekly check-ins or encouragement, celebrate wins ("We just hit $1000!), highlight top fundraisers or effort

push during the final weeks

The last two weeks matter the most! Encourage one more ask from everyone.  Remind your team of the impact. Share how close you are to the team goal.

show up strong on event day.

Rally your team, wear matching shirts/colors (optional but fun), and celebrate what you've accomplished together.

Simple Focus: Lead • Encourage • Follow Up • Celebrate
